摘要
Today's networks are extensive and complex, supporting a wide variety of applications and services, and handle converged data, voice, and video traffic across wired and wireless connections. They are also increasingly open - using untrusted public networks and connect partners - and touch both customers and suppliers. The extensive, open nature of the network environment requires robust security at all network access points. This paper discusses embedded, integrated security as the only effective method for true network protection. It outlines the drivers for integration and explores in detail how this method can help technical decision-makers effectively strike a balance between the need for access and the need for protection.
