摘要
Existing tape technologies may not be able to satisfy those conditions. For that reason, several new tape technologies have been introduced to meet open-system needs. This executive white paper focuses on one of those new tape technologies, linear tape-open (LTO) technology. LTO technology offers the reliability, scalability, and performance that is now demanded of tape solutions in open-systems-based Information Systems (IS) environments. Moreover, LTO technology offers openness. LTO technology is the only tape format that is not controlled by a single company, so it is an exceptionally open tape format. (Dec. 2001)
