Consolidating servers to place the organization's workload onto a smaller number of network attached storage (NAS) devices based on Windows Storage Server 2003 is an increasingly popular concept; however, it can be difficult to gather hard data to make the business case for doing so. This paper, by Microsoft and Quest Software, describes a process that allows you to gather the necessary data to build a business case to get sponsorship for server consolidation projects.
