Scale-out provides a powerful advantage to customers. It gives them choices on how to right-size the initial purchase of storage and how to grow to meet inevitable capacity increase demands. It reduces risk of introducing performance degradations as capacity is increased and gives options in dealing with vendors on purchasing and warranty issues. The flexibility is a significant argument in evaluating storage alternatives.
