摘要
The tremendous growth in information and information storage in recent years -- driven by a new class of data-intensive applications, Web-enabled enterprise applications, and the Internet -- has created unparalleled growth in the need for storage. The traditional approach to enterprise storage involved directly linking servers to a local storage subsystem. A recent trend in IT management has been the consolidation of storage in the data center to create a storage area network (SAN).
